UES Man Who Threatened Mother With Knife Shot By Police

A man who threatened his mother with a knife on the Upper East Side Monday afternoon was shot three times and wounded by police.
Police were called to 408 East 65th Street around 2 p.m. for a domestic dispute.
There, officers found a 22-year-old man holding a knife to his mother's throat in the common hallway of the building's sixth floor.
When the man refused to listen to police and drop his weapon, seen above, the police sergeant Tasered the man.
The attacker then turned to police and then two officers shot the man three times in the torso.
The man's 49-year-old mother was caught in the crossfire and was shot once in the buttocks.
By Monday night, both the mother and son were in stable condition in NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Police sources said the son lived with his mother and they had a long history of domestic disturbances.
Neighbors said they knew of issues between the mother and son, but said they came from a nice family.
"Seeing them and said hello to them every day of my life, almost. But it's just sad," said a neighbor. "She's a wonderful person and I just wish her well."
Three police officers were also treated for minor injuries, according to fire officials.
