Despite canceling a trip well in advance in accordance to the travel agency's refund policy, one Brooklyn couple is struggling to get back the money they are owed. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following report.

LaToya Cadlett and her boyfriend thought they found a perfect trip to Egypt when they booked the journey with Seal Team Events last year.

"A trip to Egypt, 10 days, $2,000, everything included," says Cadlett. "I sent a security deposit to hold our spots and then after that they had a payment plan."

Unfortunately, Cadlett had already paid $1,300 toward the trip when her Army Reserve unit was mobilized and she was forced to cancel the vacation.

However, Cadlett was relieved because she knew Seal Team Events had a refund policy.

"They said, 'You are guaranteed 100 percent of your refund up until 30 days of the trip,'" says Cadlett.

She canceled more than a year before the trip, but even after assurances over the phone that she would receive a refund, Seal Team Events eventually refused to refund her.

At that point, Cadlett filed civil suit and won, but all she received from Seal Team Events was a check for $300.

That is when she called NY1 For You and the station contacted Seal Team Events.

A representative for the company claimed a mailing error was to blame for the delayed refund and told NY1 a full refund would be sent to Cadlett.

It's a promise Cadlett hopes the company will soon fulfill.
