A large sinkhole in the East Village that had pedestrians pleading for a major agency to patch it up is no longer. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following "NY1 For You" report. It's a smooth path for pedestrians along Avenue C near 13th Street now that a gaping sinkhole has finally been filled.
NY1 first looked into the hole at the beginning of the month after neighbors called "NY1 For You".
A lot of concerned pedestrians pass by since there's a school right around the corner.
At the time NY1 contacted Con Edison about the ditch. Con Ed would eventually put up barricades but two weeks later the hole was still there.
At that point, the station contacted Con Ed again. A spokeswoman said the agency was conducting a further analysis to determine a long term fix.
A few days later, the hole was finally filled paving the way for pedestrians.
