According to Forbes Magazine, seven of the country's top 20 private high schools are in the city, including three of the top five.
Topping the list is the Trinity School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, followed by Horace Mann in Riverdale.
Also in the top 20 are all-girls schools Brearley, Spence and Chapin.
Collegiate at number 7 and Dalton at 13 round out the city's top ranked schools.
The list was based largely on acceptance rates at top colleges, student to faculty ratios, faculty with advances degrees, and size of a school’s endowment.
