New Yorkers came out to dine together on the High Line Saturday.
The Social Soup Experiment served a farro and bean soup lunch to more than 200 people.
Bread baked fresh in Harlem and apples picked in the Hudson Valley were also part of the meal, which came at a cost of just $5 per person.
"We're doing it because we think that coming together is really powerful. We're serving it family style, everyone gets a big bowl,” said chef Mona Talbott.
"We were inspired by Slow Food USA's Five Dollar Challenge. The idea here is that you can eat really well, you can source good ingredients, have a luscious meal, really enjoy it with friends," said Melina Shannon-DiPietro,
