Thousands of New Yorkers laced up their sneakers for a good cause Saturday morning as the 15th annual EIF Revlon Run Walk For Women stepped off in Times Square.

More than 20,000 people pounded the pavement to Central Park to raise money and awareness for women's cancer research, counseling, and outreach programs.

"The energy is great. It's so positive. A lot of smiles, a lot of people walking, a lot of people just... it's the greatest feeling in the world," said actor Jimmy Fallon.

Participant Maureen Moe said she used to do the 3.5-mile run/walk for others. Then, two years ago, she said she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Now cancer-free, she said events like Saturday's helped her through the rough times.

"I'm Maureen, diagnosed two years ago with breast cancer, went through two operations, chemo, radiation, and I made it all through because of things like this," Moe said.

While most of the money raised will go towards fighting breast cancer some of the funds will be used for researching other types of cancers.

"There's a lot more types of cancer than just breast cancer, so we're here to find a cure for all," said Revlon President and CEO Allan Ennis.
