Six seconds from going down three games to two in their Eastern Conference Semifinal series, the New York Rangers proved their resiliency once again.

Brad Richards poked in a power play goal to tie the game 2-2 in the waning seconds of regulation, then Mark Staal scored 1:35 into overtime to give the Rangers a dramatic 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

The win gives New York a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Rangers' Anton Stralman opened the scoring in the first period, with Brooks Laich and John Carlson scoring for the Capitals before Richards' heroics set up the come-from-behind victory.

The Rangers can advance to the Eastern Conference Finals with a win in Game 6, Wednesday in Washington.
