Rep. Charles Rangel's Democratic Primary win was certified Tuesday, a day after his closest opponent conceded for a second time.

The Board of Elections made the formal move after more than a week of controversy amid charges of errors and possible election fraud.

State Sen. Adriano Espaillat made a final concession on Monday after initially challenging the vote in court.

In a statement, Rangel thanked the community and said he was looking forward to working with his entire district in order to improve the lives of his constituents.

The 21-term congressman will have to win the general election in November before fully punching his ticket back to Washington. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
