Young New Yorkers got a chance Wednesday to help the Hurricane Sandy relief effort as the bottled water company "Wat-aah" and hosted a charity event in Midtown.

Kids exchanged two canned food items for a ticket to get in.

Inside, they were treated to games provided by Nickelodeon and live performances from some up and coming young musicians.

Those performing said it was an opportunity they couldn't pass up.

"Well I got involved, we started talking on Twitter or whatever, I started talking with Wat-aah on Twitter, and they were interested in having me come and I wasn't going to miss up the opportunity to come and perform at an event with such a big cause," said musician Jordan Newt.

"I felt like, even though I wasn't there and I wasn't experiencing it, I saw what was going and, like, it affected me, like, thinking about it, like, 'what if that was me, you know, losing my home, or the things that I love and that I take for granted everyday?'" said musician Ryan Beatty. "It really made me think about that."

All the food collected went to the Food Bank for New York City. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
