The man sought in a series of violent robberies in East Harlem remains locked up in a New Jersey jail and authorities say it could be days before he is brought back to the city.

According to New Jersey State Police, Jason Commisso, 34, is sitting in Glouster County Jail after his arrest Monday night.

They say there's no clear time table for how long the extradition process will take.

Members of the New York City Police Department's violent felony squad and New Jersey state police found Commisso on a Greyhound bus on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the bus was headed to North Carolina, and that Commisso had tickets for another bus to Texas.

"We had information that he may have been on one of two buses -- a bus headed for Pittsburgh or a bus headed to Virginia. Both of those buses were stopped and as I say he was apprehended at exit 2 on the New Jersey Turnpike," Kelly added.

The NYPD says Commisso targeted people of Asian descent in at least eight violent attacks since January 17.

They also say Commisso has more than 30 prior arrests.
