City College is honoring one of its most distinguished graduates.
The college is renaming it's division of social sciences the "Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership."
The board of trustees approved the name change Monday, the formal inauguration will take place Thursday.
CUNY officials say they already raised $30 million for the school.
Powell graduated from City College in 1958, then went on to become chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Secretary of State.
He's expected to speak at the inauguration.
He will also be presented with the CUNY Chancellor's Medal.
