Is the fastest way to get around the city by bike, subway or taxi?
NY1's Pat Kiernan, Roger Clark, and Jamie Shupak set out this week to find out.
All three took part Wednesday in the Transportation Alternatives commuter race.
They began their trek traveling from NY1's studios in Chelsea to the intersection of 45th Street and Third Avenue.
The folks at Transportation Alternatives had their own opinion on who would win.
"It's always the bicycle, I have full faith in the bike, it's just a convenient form of transport. You walk out your door, you jump on your bike, door-to-door service. No hailing cabs, no waiting for trains, no traffic jams, it's always the bike. I think Pat's got this," said Ben McRoberts of Transportation Alternatives.
Twenty minutes after they set out, Pat narrowly nabbed a victory by bike, while Roger was stuck waiting for a receipt from his taxi driver.
Jamie's train was delayed by subway traffic, and she arrived 10 minutes later.
