More than 11 years after the September 11th terror attacks the remains of a city firefighter have been identified.
The city Medical Examiner's office says the remains of Lieutenant Jeffrey Walz, 37, were collected before May 2002 but retested and confirmed only recently.
He was killed when the World Trade Center's north tower collapsed.
Walz, who had been assigned to Ladder 9 in the East Village, was one of 343 members of the fire department killed in the attacks.
The number of identified victims now stands at 1,637.
