More New Yorkers now say they support legalizing same-sex marriage, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released today.
The poll found that 51 percent of voters are now offering up their support; 41 percent were against, and 8 percent undecided.
Researchers say this is the first time the Quinnipiac poll found a majority of voters in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage.
Governor David Paterson has already promised to sign the bill that was passed by the Assembly. All it needs now is a green light from the Senate.
Quinnipiac surveyed 2,477 registered voters for the poll. The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points.
