Governor Announces $25 Million Statewide Housing Grant For Homeless

Governor David Paterson announced Saturday that $25 million in grants will fund homeless housing projects and related services throughout the state.
Nearly $20 million will go to four projects in the city.
The governor said support services available at the funded sites will assist veterans and people with substance abuse problems, mental illness and physical disabilities.
The money comes from the state's Homeless Housing and Assistant Program, which provides funding to not-for-profit organizations to build or rehabilitate housing for those unable to secure shelter without assistance.
