City Councilman James Vacca is set to introduce legislation that would allow drivers to transfer unused muni-meter time from one parking spot to the next.
Vacca, who is the chairman of the Council's Transportation Committee, is set to introduce the legislation on Wednesday.
While Department of Transportation officials say drivers already have the right to use the same muni-meter receipt at different parking spots, judges and traffic police officers often disagree, leading to drivers being ticketed.
Vacca also says 311 operators tell callers reusing a muni-meter receipt is not allowed.
A similar bill in the State Assembly is being sponsored by Brooklyn Assemblyman William Colton.
