Zagat surveyors say that sweeping views of Columbus Circle and upper Broadway are the bait at the slick newcomer Robert, where the minimalist swank aesthetic includes artsy light fixtures, a rippled communal table, and video art on a flat-screen.

Despite the artistic and breathtaking setting, Zagat says the food stands out, created and "designed" by Executive Chef Brady Duhame.

“As an artist, I always try to design a plate with flows and height, and textures and colors,” he says. “It all has to make sense.”

The menu offers delicacies such as beet salad, with red and golden beets, frisee lettuce, haricots verts, maytag blue cheese and a creamy horseradish dressing. For an entree, there's the option of fresh scallops from Maine, with a cauliflower apple puree, chanterelles, and baby bok choy.

Chef Duhame says his specialty lies with his desert, French donuts, or beignets made with ricotta cheese.

The Mediterranean-accented American menu is offered for lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, while a mod lounge area serves fancy cocktails into the wee hours.
