New York City Opera is returning to its roots next year.

The company will be holding half of its upcoming season in its original home at City Center in Midtown.

The theater served as the company's base of operations from 1943 through 1966.

"Everybody is very excited about being back at City Center especially because it's been so beautifully renovated. It sounds great and looks great and is much more comfortable for the audience," said NYC Opera General Manager George Steel.

Next season includes four new productions: two at City Center and two at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

The company made news last year when it left Lincoln Center, citing rising costs.

City Opera now says it's set to have a balanced budget next year and offer tickets to select performances for just $25.
