NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Arts reporter Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

Linda Lavin At The Metropolitan Room

First up, she just got a Tony nomination for her role in "The Lyons" on Broadway, and now you can see Linda Lavin explore other possibilities with a two-night run at the Metropolitan Room, celebrating her new CD, "Possibilities." Tickets are $25-$115 and showtimes are at 9:30 p.m.

Balachine & Robbins At The NYC Ballet

On Saturday is a day-long celebration of George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins at the New York City Ballet. See the choreography of Robbins during the day and Balanchine at night, with special events and dicussions in between. Tickets are $29-$149 and shows are at the Koch Theater in Lincoln Center.

"Billy Budd" At The Met

Steps away from the Koch Theater, see Nathan Gunn in "Billy Budd," an operatic retelling of Herman Melville’s shipboard drama. It opens at the Metropolitan Opera on Friday night. Tickets are selling quickly but some are still available for $100.

"Werk! The Armitage Gone Variety Show"

This Saturday, the theater/rock act Roma! has teamed up with choreographer Karole Armitage to provide the music for "Werk! The Armitage Gone Variety Show." It's at the Abrons Art Center at 466 Grand Street in Downtown Manhattan. Tickets are $30.

Gertrude Stein Music Marathon

Saturday, it's a music marathon at Symphony Space. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the 12-hour free music event will celebrate Gertrude Stein's Paris.
