NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Arts reporter Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

"Tempted" at Brooklyn Seaside Summer Concert Series

First up, get Tempted by The Brooklyn Seaside Summer Concert Series. Squeeze is playing Friday night at West 21st street and Surf Avenue in Coney Island. The entire concert series is free. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

Brasil Summerfest

Brasil Summerfest kicks off Saturday afternoon at Central Park SummerStage with a free concert by Bossa Nova star Bebel Gilberto and young rap sensations Criolo. The concert is free. The week-long fest takes place across the city with free and ticketed events.

Bria Skonberg at Louis Armstrong House and Museum

Canadian vocalist and trumpeter Bria Skonberg performs at the Louis Armstrong House and Museum in Corona, Queens this Saturday at 2 p.m. It's part of the museum’s Hot Jazz/Cool Garden concert series. Tickets are $15 and include a tour of the home.

NYC Poetry Festival

The NYC Poetry festival is back for a second year at Governors Island this Saturday and Sunday. There are live readings, food vendors, children's events and more. It runs both days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets in advance are $5 for both days. Day of sale is $5 each day.

Wake Up Madagascar Tour

At Le Poisson Rouge in SoHo, celebrate the music of Madagascar (the African island nation in the Indian Ocean, not the animated film series) and help that country's fight to protect the environment. The Wake Up Madagascar Tour is Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20-$25.
