A new report finds the city's suicide rate is about half the national average.
According to the city's Health Department, about six deaths in 100,000 were self-inflicted between 2007 and 2008.
That is about half the nationwide rate of 11 per 100,000.
Also, city residents who committed suicide were far less likely to use a firearm than those in other parts of the country.
