NY1 anchor Roma Torre won an Outstanding Achievement Award from the T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre in Chelsea on Monday, in honor of her contributions to the theater community.

Each year, the studio recognizes artists who achieve excellence in their field and chose to make New York an integral part of their success.

Torre writes and contributes regular theater reviews for NY1's "On Stage."

"When we were planning the event this year and there were submissions for people, everybody in the room said, 'Well, if we're going to do a journalist and a theater critic it needs to be somebody who's passionate and smart,' and everybody in the room all at the same time said 'Roma,'" said Summer Crockett Moore of the T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre.

"For the theater community to come out and collectively embrace us like this, it's just beyond words, truly. I'm so deeply touched," said Torre.

This year's honorees also included playwright John Patrick Shanley and actors Judith Light and Amy Ryan.
