NY1's Adam Balkin got a sneak peak of all the gadgets shaping consumer technology ahead of the officially kick off of the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

Unveiled, the press preview for the annual Consumer Electronics Show, is always just the slight breeze leading up to the absolute typhoon that is the actual event held inside the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“It attracts over 125,000 people from around the world,” says Gary Shapiro of the Consumer Electronics Association. “We have 2,700 companies exhibiting in 1.6-million square feet of exhibit space. That's like about 28 football fields of exhibits.”

Everything from ski goggles with HD cameras built in to alarm clocks built to hold iPads are among the items on display.

There’s even a Thermador oven that promises to never again dry out meals like that Thanksgiving turkey.

“What the oven does, it has two heating units; one is a convention oven with a fan in the back the other is water,” explains Sung Choi of Thermdor. “It feeds water into a reservoir in the bottom to add humidity and steam to the cooking method so that it retains all the moisture in the food.”

And, as always, there will be dozens of headphones and ear buds featured, some that claim superior sound quality, some that claim a sleeker design.

Sonomax is showing off customized ear buds that can be built to fit your ear in just four minutes.

“The silicone goes inside this little magic balloon while it's in your ear, never touches your ear, and the silicone expands to the shape of your ear,” says Nick Leperle of Sonomax Technologies. “Most comfortable things you'll ever own. They'll never fall out of your ear, never hurt, and they block noise and allow you to listen to music at lower volumes.”

There will be many products that are twists on traditional devices that you probably already own. The nPower Peg charger works on kinetic energy. In other words, as you move, it gets its juice for your device.

“It's kinda similar to the shake flashlight,” says Jill Lemieux of Tremont Electric, which developed the product. “However, it's a much more refined system, tuned to the same frequency people move, and the power output is also much higher than the shake flashlight.”

It will come in handy if you purchase even one-10,000th of the new portable devices at the show, as you'll easily run out of electrical outlets into your home needed to keep them all going.
