Sesame Street eBooks for iPad

It's a new eBook Store just for kids. The Sesame Street eBookstore iPad app gives users access to more than 150 educational eBooks which come in one of three flavors: a traditional book for the child or parent to read themselves, a book read aloud by a narrator, or books that are narrated and animated. Incidentally, there are titles in there in English and Spanish. And while the app itself is free, in order to access the books you will need a subscription. It's either $3.99 a month or $39.99 for the whole year. If this all sounds intriguing to you but you are not an iPad owner, you can also access the books, via the same subscription, through your computer by visiting ebooks.sesamestreet.org.

Nursery Rhymes with Storytime

And sticking with eBooks, here's one with a neat twist that really takes advantage of technology in a few ways. For starters, "Nursery Rhymes with Storytime" are extremely interactive versions of some of the most well-known nursery rhymes of all time: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Three Blind Mice, the Three Little Pigs. But it's the "with Storytime" part of the title that sets this one apart from other eBooks. Storytime is a way for mom or dad, grandparents, anyone who is not sitting right next to a child read that child all the nursery rhymes remotely. So dad can be on business in Hong Kong, the iPad user in the U.S. and dad connect with each other via the GameCenter, and just like that dad can read to his kids and put them to bed from clear across the world. Nursery Rhymes with StoryTime is for all the i-devices for $3.99 though the Storytime feature will only link iPads, iPhone 4s, and iPhone 3GS's.
