You can call it being current, you can call it being lazy. Regardless of what you think about sending a Mother's Day card from your mobile phone though, there's no question it can be a simple way to send a more customized message than one you'd buy off a store shelf. We're talking real cards you make on your phone that get sent through the real mail to a loved one. Apple's Cards is probably the most recognizable in this space and it just added more than two dozen new designs specifically for Mother's Day. In case you haven't used one of these, once you launch the app you choose a template, then choose a photo from your collection if you'd like, then add some text and when you finish up a physical card will get sent off to whoever you've addressed it to. The Cards app itself is free for iPhones, to send a card anywhere in the U.S. costs $2.99; internationally it'll run you $4.99.

Sincerely Ink: Cards

If you like the idea of creating a card in the virtual world then having it delivered in the real one, but want the card itself to signify more, then check out Sincerely Ink. Same idea, you customize a card for Mother's Day, or any occasion, then send it off. The difference here, there's a category called "giving" and if you choose a card from there developers say at least 70 percent of the proceeds will go towards the charity on the card. But, know that you will pay more for that card to make that 70 percent slice a little more meaningful, we're talking anywhere between $10 to $20 apiece. Incidentally, mom will get a message on the back telling her exactly how that card is going to help a particular cause. The Sincerely Ink app itself is free for iOS and Android devices.
