A new September 11th victim has been identified, according to officials.

The medical examiner says the remains of a 55-year-old man were identified during the sifting operation that resumed earlier this month.

The victim's identity is not being released by request of the family.

Nearly 16,000 cubic feet of material collected from the World Trade Center since 2010 is being sifted for potential human remains at Fresh Kills on Staten Island.

Nearly 60 percent of the 2,750 people killed in the attacks have now been identified.

Methods used for identifying remains include DNA testing, dental imaging and fingerprints.
