The Miami Heat ended the Knicks' season Wednesday night by defeating New York 106-94 in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series.

The Heat won the series five games to one, following New York's lone victory on Sunday.

The Heat closed out the first half of Game 5 on a 10-2 run to open up an 11 point lead at the break.

The Knicks never made a serious threat in the second half.

Carmelo Anthony led New York with 35 points while LeBron James had 29 points for the Heat.

"I'm not one to make any excuses for anything. We still went out there. We competed, we played. But Miami, they're a tough defensive team," Anthony said.

"Miami's a really good team, so gotta give credit to them. But we had a chance to win a few of these games. We just couldn't pull it out," said Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire.

The Heat will now move on to the second round where they will face the Indiana Pacers.
