The Detroit Tigers player accused of making anti-Semitic remarks outside a city hotel will not be getting a plea deal.

Outfielder Delmon Young was in court Tuesday for a brief hearing.

He's due back on August 2.

Young is charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime.

Police say he yelled anti-semitic slurs at a group of people outside a Manhattan Hilton Hotel in April and then got into a fight.

His lawyer says Young is a good guy who had a bad night.

The Tigers were in town to play the Yankees.
