Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz paid tribute to a young fan killed in Friday's school shooting in Connecticut, by writing the boy's name on his cleats and gloves during Sunday's game.

Cruz said he found out through Twitter that 6-year-old Jack Pinto was a huge fan and immediately reached out to the family.

After the game, Cruz talked about what he told the family when he spoke to them.

"Just to stay strong and to understand that God has a plan and things are unfortunate and things don't always go as planned, and to just stay strong," Cruz said. "They seem like a strong family. I also spoke to the older brother and, you know, he was distraught as well. So I just told him to stay strong and I'm going to do whatever I can to honor them."

Jack's funeral is set for Monday.

Cruz says he plans to meet up with the Pinto family in person sometime this week.
