The New York Knicks fell behind early and couldn't catch up, and the result was an 82-71 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup Saturday night in Indianapolis.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 21 points, but New York led only once in the game for a total of 76 seconds during the first quarter.

Amare Stoudemire returned to the line-up after a two-month absence and went 3 of 8 from the field to finish with seven points. J.R. Smith scored nine points after missing the morning shootaround because of a 102-degree fever.

The Knicks now trail the series 2-1, with Game 4 of the best-of -seven series set for Tuesday in Indianapolis. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
