The Yankees say they have cleared Derek Jeter to begin his rehab assignment.
The all-star shortstop will play with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders, the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate, this Saturday.
The team captain is set to play at least five innings.
Jeter broke his left ankle in last year's American League Championship Series and then re-injured it in spring training.
Meanwhile, after playing in two games for their minor league team in Charleston, Alex Rodriguez is scheduled to continue his rehab this weekend for the Tampa Bay Yankees.
