Kids in Harlem have a new place to go to learn about technology.

The Police Athletic League, in partnership with Time Warner Cable, opened its first technology center yesterday.

NY1 Political anchor Dominic Carter was there for the grand opening.

The state-of-the-art center features laptops, high-speed Internet, and flat screen televisions for children who may not have access to the technology at home.

"To you kids, I just want to say to you that you have to be involved in the Internet, because the Internet takes you from this community to all over the world,” said Carter. “And I also want to say believe in yourself."

"'I'm looking forward to having fun in the center, to having fun on our computers,” said one child.

"PAL is a great place to go and it makes it even greater because we have laptops and all this other equipment and computer labs,” said another.

Time Warner Cable, NY1's parent company, has pledged to open 40 centers throughout the city over the next 10 years.
