Famed NFL coach Vince Lombardi could soon go from Green Bay to the Great White Way.

The late football coach who is associated with the phrase "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing" is slated to be the subject of a stage adaptation of the best-selling book "When Pride Still Mattered."

The play would open in the fall of 2010.

Brooklyn-born Lombardi led the Green Bay Packers to the first two Super Bowl titles, in 1967 and 1968. The trophy now given to the NFL's best team is named after him.

Lombardi was known for fiery, inspirational locker room speeches and motivational skills.

One of the show's producers says he'll make a good subject for a Broadway play because "sports produces great human drama."
