JP Morgan Chase announced today that it is donating $1 million to restore some trees to Central Park.

The company’s chief executive officer was on hand as the mayor made the announcement.

"JP Morgan is proud to be giving a million dollars to support the community of the Central Park Conservancy, because the [quality of life] in the city is as important as anything else to making sure we have a healthy and vibrant city for all of the citizens here," said JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.

The money will go to the Central Park Conservancy to help replant trees and fix landscapes destroyed by a storm in August.

Winds of up to 80 miles an hour had damaged or destroyed nearly 1,500 trees.
