Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is tapping a New York City Police Department inspector to run security for the upcoming trials of five September 11th suspects in the city.

The NYPD promoted Michael Blake, 48, to deputy chief today.

Kelly says Blake has already done preliminary assessments of the areas in Lower Manhattan that will be affected by the trials.

Blake is a 23 year veteran of the NYPD.
