A youth minister on Manhattan’s Lower East Side is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges of raping a young girl under his supervision.

Jeremy Fulton, 27, was arrested Thursday night by Manhattan's Special Victims Unit for allegedly raping a 12-year old girl who attends his Mariners' Temple Baptist Church group.

Fulton pleaded not guilty during his Friday arraignment to charges of rape, predatory sex assault against a child and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Prosecutors say Fulton exposed himself to the victim and had sex with her multiple times two years ago.

The victim's mother has told police there are allegations that Fulton has committed the same sex acts on other young girls.

About 30 to 40 children were part of Fulton's after-school program.

Church members told NY1 they were in disbelief, but some said they were reserving judgment and keeping Fulton in their prayers.

"Seeing him in the pulpit, seeing him preach the Gospel and reach out to children and just try to help people in this community. So many people have turned their lives around because of him," said parishioner Keysha Turner. "We are his family and it's possible he may have a problem we didn't know about. We're hoping he can get some help."

"I'm very shocked at the accusation. He is very involved with the kids, but for the most part, he is.... I trusted him," said parishioner Anita Thomas. "Yes, I did trust him with the kids. I've never seen anything to indicate anything like that."

"I was talking to one of my neighbors and they were like, they used to leave the door open and she has a nine-, 10-year-old daughter," said David Corona, a neighbor in Fulton's Manhattan apartment building. "And she was like, 'I can't believe it."

The district attorney's office is asking anyone with information about Fulton to come forward.

Meanwhile, published reports say court documents show a family of two teenagers sued the church in 2007 for $7 million, claiming sexual abuse by Fulton.
