The Tribute in Light, one of the most cherished memorials of the September 11th terrorist attacks, will continue through the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation announced today that it has put aside $1.4 million to ensure the twin beams of light shine from downtown on the next two anniversaries.
That means the tribute will shine on the 10th anniversary of the attacks, which is also when the National September 11 Museum and Memorial is scheduled to open.
The funding will also ensure the completion of "Project Rebirth," which follows several first-responders and victims, as well as document the rebuilding efforts.
And, StoryCorps will continue to collect family histories, memories and other stories as a national oral history project.
