Sources say police are searching for the roommate of a man who was fatally stabbed inside their Manhattan apartment.

John Lea, 41, was slashed in the throat and had other stab wounds on his body.

He was found yesterday under a pile of clothes in his second-floor apartment at 439 West 46th Street.

The knife was recovered at the scene.

Sources say police are looking to speak with Lea's roommate, Justin Waller in connection with the incident. According to sources, Waller and Lea had been living together for several months after meeting at a gym.

Police are not calling Waller a suspect.

Neighbors say Lea was outgoing and friendly, while Waller was a withdrawn loner who put them on edge.

"He was very antisocial; he just sat there smoking," said a building resident. "He had a really bad vibe about him."

"I've lived here for 35 years and I don't remember every seeing anybody quite like that," said another.

Police would not confirm that Waller and Lea had a sexual relationship, but neighbors said the pair seemed close.

Lea's co-workers called police when he did not show up for work.
