A New York City Housing Authority employee was severely burned Tuesday after a firecracker was thrown on him, according to sources.

It happened just before 2 p.m. at the Drew-Hamilton Houses on 142nd Street in Manhattan.

Sources say the firecracker hit the ground, popped back up and hit the man, burning his face and arms.

He was taken to Harlem Hospital.

It is not believed the victim was targeted.

NYCHA officials say they are concerned about the incident and will work closely with police in their investigation.
