Mayor Tours Media Freelancers' "Hive"
Mayor Michael Bloomberg toured the Hive@55, a center for freelancers in media and technology, in Downtown Manhattan on Wednesday.
The mayor said the 5,000-square-feet center gives up to 40 media freelancers at a time affordable office space and equipment.
Bloomberg called the Hive a big success, and that more are being planned for other industries.
"We know these incubators work which is why we set up others for the financial entrepreneurship, fashion, green technology and the arts, and we have more in the pipeline," said the mayor. "And we're doing more than ever to help entrepreneurs who provide the heartbeat of our economy, and who will lead us to a recovery."
The Hive, which opened in December, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
