Five Hospitalized After Being Stuck In Subway Station Elevator

By: NY1 News

Five people were hospitalized after they were removed from a stuck elevator at the 168th Street station in Washington Heights today, according to fire and transit officials.

An elevator between the 1 and A and C train platforms became stuck around 4:15 p.m. and 12 people were stuck inside for more than an hour.

Firefighters were able to remove the patients from the escape hatch at the top of the elevator.

The five hospitalized patients were probably affected by the heat and were brought to the nearby NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center, according to transit officials.
