Bus riders around the city finally felt the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's budget pinch Sunday, as dozens of bus lines were either eliminated or had their service reduced.

Some MTA service cuts already took effect Friday night, when the W and V trains stopped running.

Starting Monday morning, the Q line will be extended to Astoria, Queens to replace the W line. The M train will be rerouted to cover some stations in lower Manhattan that had been served by the V train.

MTA officials say the service cuts and changes could save the transit agency $100 million.
