A new work of art is bringing the young and old together in Chinatown.

The "Winding the Clock" mosaic is a new public installation at the Bowery Residents' Committee Senior Center.

It features Chinatown's landmarks, food vendors, and its rich culture, and reflects themes like longevity, health and good luck.

It was put together by a group of teenage artists as part of the Groundswell's Apprenticeship Program.

"They met with our elders. They talked with our elders, often through interpreters. We speak four dialects of Chinese here. And, from that, interpreted stories and the histories of our elders here at the senior center,” explained Muzzy Rosenblatt of the Bowery Residents' Committee.

"I feel proud,” said artist Urantia Ramirez. “I really didn't think I would accomplish it, but I did."

"People should know it’s not really easy to do a project like this and it’s a whole big experience about it,” said artist Cassandra Parblous.

The project began in the fall of last year and took seven months to complete.
