Local Artist Wins Hell's Kitchen Mural Design Contest

It was history in the painting, as area artists wrapped up a year-long competition on Friday to see whose mural would be painted in Hell's Kitchen.
After 50 entries and a judging period, a tree-filled design by Brooklyn-based artist Corinne Ulmann was chosen.
"I was inspired by this beautiful interior courtyard of the condo building," said Ulmann. "So the idea was really to take the courtyard and sort of extend it up vertically and offer the neighborhood a vertical landscape, which also begins to connect visually DeWitt Clinton Park to the west and Central Park to the east."
The mural will cover two large exterior walls of a two-building complex in Hell's Kitchen.
