Fire marshals arrested a building worker today on charges of reckless endangerment for allegedly causing yesterday's five-alarm fire in Bayside, Queens.
Fire officials say the suspect illegally used a torch on a combustible roof at the seven-story building at Bell Boulevard and 23rd Avenue.
The five-alarm fire broke out shortly before 3 p.m. and created heavy damage in four apartments.
More than a dozen firefighters were treated or removed for heat exhaustion and seven civilians were also injured.
