A royal wedding in England has become an economic boost for a jeweler in Manhattan.

Prince William proposed to his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton with his mother's engagement ring last month.

Now Lady Diana's 18-carat blue sapphire and diamond ring is inspiring a new wave of admirers and imitations.

Orders are pouring in at the Natural Sapphire Company in Midtown, which makes replicas of the ring.

Michael Arnstein, the company’s chief executive officer says demand is so great, the flood of customers caused their website to crash.

"It's absolutely amazing what's happening,” Arnstein said. “The interest in sapphires and the Lady Di ring, or what's now it's going to be called the Kate Middleton ring, is tremendous and we're having a hard time dealing with the demand."

Of course, most of the customers do not have a royal budget. Many of the replicas are one or two carats and sold for between $1,000 and $2,500.
