There is good news for the victims who survived the September 11th terror attacks but are still living with the health affects.
Senator Charles Schumer says Attorney General Eric Holder has agreed to have the Zadroga 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund up and running by October 1.
That means the U.S. Justice Department will commit other funds to make sure both claims and payments are administered immediately on that date.
Named in honor of a detective who died from an illness he developed at the site, the measure provides more than $4 billion in health coverage to first responders and other victims over the next five years.
