A Manhattan State Assembly candidate on Friday received the backing of two of the most influential Democrats in city government.
Attorney Dan Quart is running for the 73rd district seat, which represents parts of the Upper East Side and Midtown.
Speaking on the steps of City Hall, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio threw their support behind Quart, saying he's more than qualified for the job.
"Most people have this long a record of accomplishment after they've been in the Assembly for awhile, Dan has it as a candidate," Quinn said.
"This is a guy who has all the intellectual capacity, and the professional background and he's done the hard work in the trenches," De Blasio said.
"There's a lot of things still left to do and because of my work on housing in the community and going to court and knowing these issues I think I can hit the ground running in Albany," Quart said.
The seat became open when Jonathan Bing was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo to a position at the New York State Liquidation Bureau.
