Hundreds of four-legged friends got a jump on Halloween festivities Saturday as the 21st Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade was held in the East Village.
Spectators packed the park to watch dogs show off their costumes, sometimes in coordination with their owners.
"I have a wonderful designer who made this, and every year we have to do matching outfits, so I thought it would be really fun to be proud as a peacock together," said one dog owner.
"We just felt like it was creative and showed each personality and it was a lot of fun to put together," said another.
Dogs competed for thousands of dollars in prizes.
All of the proceeds from the event go toward maintaining the new Tompkins Square Dog Run.
