New Yorkers were given a sneak peek at a new musical-themed TV show Friday.
"Smash" hit the streets of Times Square to film scenes for the series.
The drama focuses on the production of a Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroe.
Former “American Idol” contestant Katherine McPhee will make her television debut as a girl with a dream of making it on Broadway.
Veterans Anjelica Houston, Megan Hilty and Debra Messing also star.
"It’s a Cinderella story. It’s about the opportunity to go to the ball and get the prince,” said Craig Zadan, “Smash” executive producer.
“It’s also a great big love letter to New York, and the fact that New York is as much a character as any of the other actors and the fact that it’s always been a place where dreams are made," said Neil Meron, “Smash” executive producer.
“Smash” is set to premiere in February.
